Cowboys & Aliens Tickets - Comic Con 2011 Begins

Whether you are a die hard Comic Book fan or you are attending because you are a second generation fan and it is the pop media aspect that attracts you, this weeks Comic Con International in San Diego, California is the place to be.

One of the big draws movies premiering this week is Jon Favraeu's "Cowboys and Aliens". It was announced that 2,000 fans would be able to attend this premiere but so far details have been scares. Well today while walking around San Diego I saw the first details on how to get tickets. Take a good look at the picture below.

At the bottom it says Text Cowboys to 834567 for ticket Info

The first signage for Comic Con is going up on the Convention Center itself

McDains Child Free Zone

McDains Restaurant in Monroeville, PA attracted national attention this week with it's policy to not allow child under 6 in the restaurant any longer. This came about after complaints from older guest about young children disturbing them during meals.

The restaurants web site describes McDains as being "upscale, quiet and casual". It was the noise being made by young children who's parents could or would not quiet them down or simple take them outside when they became unruly that has cause McDains to impose the new no-child rule.

I for one wish I lived in the Monroeville area because I would patronize McDain for a nice quiet meal with out screaming or banging children around. I don't go out and pay money to be treated to someone elses noisy kids.

Super 8

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

From the pen of J.J. Abrams and Producer Steven Spielberg we are treated to "Super 8" a Science Fiction Film and my personal favorite film of the summer so far. A film that has a story to it and not one of these summer films that is filled with action and no substance. It is a little like this generations Goonies with a little Close Encounters of the Third Kind and ET mixed in to the bag.

Having grown up in the 70's I loved all the little reminders of my youth with the set decorations. From the 8 track tapes in the background of one scene to the news cast of Three Mile Island playing in the background of another.

I saw the movie twice and it is one that will make it's way to my DVD collection when it is released. If you have not seen it yet it is a movie I recommend going to see before it leaves your local theatre.

Cars 2

Lighting McQueen and Mater are back on the big screen in Cars 2 from Pixar. They head overseas to compete in the first ever World Grand Prix to determine the World's Fastest Car. Mater gets caught up in international espionage along the way.

I loved the first Cars movie. But Cars 2 and its propaganda against Big Oil was a boring miss for me. Sorry Pixar  instead of trying to make a propaganda film go back to making entertaining family films it is what you do best.

Transformers 3: Dark Side of the Moon

Shakespeare it is not but at least this time there is a storyline unlike Transformers 2. The Autobots Bumblebee, Ractchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons.

Michael Bay brings an action packed film to the screen with this film. This film was a big improvement over the last Transformers movie. My only problem with this movie was that it was about 30 minutes to long and while I loved the action I was starting to get bored and was ready for the film to end.

If you love an action film packed film with a basic storyline then this is the movie for you. Go see it as a matinee and you will not feel like you have wasted your money.
