USS Hornet (CV-12)
The USS Hornet was one of 24 Essex class aircraft carriers that were commissioned in 1943. It was built in Newport New, Virgina and is one of eight ships named "Hornet". For 16 continuous months the Hornet was in action in the forward areas of the Pacific combat zone, sometimes within 40 miles of the Japanese home islands.
"A Heritage of Excellence" is the ships Creed.
During the summer of 2013 I spent several days on the Hornet for a special technology workshop. We stayed the night on the Hornet which was a special treat. Below are a few of the pictures I took during my time on the Hornet.
