NEA trip to a Juke Joint

NEA RA - Atlanta

This is the first in a series of blogs about my trip to Atlanta, Georgia for the National Education Association (NEA) Representative Assembly (RA).

After a long day of travel upon arriving at the hotel and checking into my room the first order of business was to find something to eat. The California Delegate hotel is the Marriott Marquis. So I proceeded to the ask for a recommendation for a local restaurant that would serve Southern food. It has been a number over 12 years since I last lived in the South.

They suggested Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint. It did not disappoint me based on the high recommendation of the hotel. The hardest thing was decided what to have to eat for dinner. I finally settled on the catfish with grits. While it was not the best catfish I have ever had, the cheese grits were fantastic and I could have eaten and entire plate of just those and been very happy. The prices were reasonable and there was live entertainment as well.

What a great way to start a week in Atlanta!
